Walk a Mile in My Shoes: Building Empathy Through Community
At The Presley Foundation, we believe that true change comes when we understand each other's journeys. Our "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" initiative brings together people from all walks of life to share stories, listen deeply, and build the empathy that transforms communities.
What Is Walk a Mile in My Shoes?
This program creates safe spaces where individuals can share their experiences—whether facing housing instability, raising a family with limited resources, or navigating other life challenges. Through listening circles, storytelling events, and community dialogues, we bridge divides and build understanding.
Why This Matters
Empathy is the foundation of lasting change. When we truly understand someone's experience, we're more likely to:
- Support meaningful solutions
- Advocate for real change in our communities
- See each other's humanity and dignity
- Build stronger, more compassionate neighborhoods
Join the Movement
You don't need to have lived through housing instability to participate. We welcome everyone who wants to listen, learn, and grow alongside others in our community.
Events are held monthly at various locations. Check our Events page to find one near you, or contact us to start a listening circle in your area.
Together, we're walking toward a more empathetic, connected community.
